The chill in the air only seemed to grow more bitter with each passing day. Rodan was becoming slowly drowned in snow. The mornings were crisp and cold, afternoons tending to see wind and snow that lasted well into the chill of the evenings where as nights were bitter and still. Those who came in passing often complained of the bitter cold and snow while locals seemed more content and not-so-bothered by the arctic cold. Of course many were taken in by the beauty of the town but from indoors mainly.

Persephone was no stranger to the cold and often enjoyed winter more so than the rest of the year. Now living here, she enjoyed it a whole lot more than living in Pennland where it's autumn wasn't so cold. Nonetheless being in Rodan was becoming a more delightful experience than expected. The only downfall to being there was simply often feeling quite lonely. When she wasn't studying or attending a class, she spent time browsing the market, writing or reading. But still, it didn't always suffice.

Tea time had probably become her favorite part of Persephone's day. She did the same thing every day at tea-time; Packing a book in her satchel, putting her warmest clothing on and heading out to one of her favorite places in the market for tea. Persephone had even gotten to meet the owner and his family. Jasper Owens, his wife Camille and their son Oscar were running the tea shop that had been owned by Jasper's family since the town first settled. They were not insanely rich nor did they have high status but Persephone liked them. They were nice, warm people who seemed so happy with so little and often envied their happiness. She hoped to find that some day herself.

The moment Persephone stepped foot in the tea-shop, the aromas of tea and the sounds of quiet chattered filled Persephone's ears. The shop was slightly busy at the moment, as it normally is around tea time. Persephone found a cozy spot right by the fireplace and immediately was greeted by Camille Owens with her favorite tea, cream and one sugar cube. The women chatted for a moment before Camille walked away. Persephone immediately pulled her book out to read.

Ezekiel was on the rounds again. It was a hard job ensuring the King's interests were maintained in the provinces, the King's right hand man was constantly on the move, hardly ever staying in one place for more than a couple of days before he was off again.

His latest tour of the Dukedoms was taking him through Raamah and Shamir in Aknatar, south into Irse and then west through Kelyea before ending up back in Fexlund to report directly to Roland. It was a thankless task really, he met with opposition and friction at every stop. His job was to be suspicious and he was disliked for it, not that he cared of course, he had little love for the High Nobility. For him, each and every one of them of was probably guilty of treason, given half a chance they would rebel and it was the responsibility of Ezekiel to lay the fear of God and the Crown upon their treacherous buttocks.

He had just finished the first leg of his journey, a meeting with the King's baby brother Addison, stand in Duke of Rodan. Satisfied that everything was in order Ezekiel bid him farewell and set off into town for a break. Stumbling into the Market he came across a delightful little tea shop, he was not really a fan of tea but he felt like having a sit down, he would learn much more about the competence of Addison from listening to the locals chat than he ever would reading through taxation documents.

As he browsed the tables looking for a quiet spot to park himself he noticed a familiar face, it was hard to tell immediately with her nose stuck in a book but upon closer inspection she was unmistakable as Persephone Giamilla, the Kings own Cousin no less, what an unexpected 'treat'. She likely had no idea who Ezekiel was, he kept himself in the background at most social events but he certainly knew her, it was his business to know those close to Roland.

“My Lady Persephone, I had not expected to find you here, why are you not at the estate? It hardly seems safe for a beautiful young lady such as yourself to be sat alone like this.“ He spoke warmly, gently even, but his face was stone cold with no hint of a smile or a welcoming glint in his dead pan eyes.
